What is Emancipation Day?

Some of you may have noticed that your taxes are due the 18th this year instead of the 15th. This is all due to Emancipation Day! This day marks the signing of the Compensated Emancipation Act by Abraham Lincoln, and we all know what Abraham Lincoln did… he freed the slaves, of course, on April 16th, 1862! This year the April 16th falls on a Sunday so the national holiday is being celebrated TODAY!

Because of this, your tax dues have been moved from the 15th to TOMORROW!

HAPPY EMANCIPATION DAY EVERYONE
